Demand for the ELOM tools is growing and with it, demand for high-quality assessors accredited to administer the tools.
ELOM assessors can be fluent in any one of South Africa’s official languages and live in any province. They undergo rigorous multi-day training to ensure that they can accurately and fairly measure children’s developmental outcomes, as well as learning and home environments. You can read more about the ELOM assessors in their own words here and here.
Training your organisational staff to conduct ELOM assessments
Once you sign the ELOM User Agreement, you will receive access to a database of accredited ELOM assessors across South Africa who you may contract to carry out assessment of your programme. Alternatively, you may choose to train your own staff. If you opt for the latter, you must be aware of the candidate assessor requirements, training costs, and you must book the training at least three months in advance of your planned data collection (use this form to make a booking).
Become an ELOM Training Partner
Training has traditionally been organised by our organisation, DataDrive2030, and led by senior and assistant trainers. As demand for training increases, and in the spirit of contributing to a strong ECD data ecosystem, we are now collaborating with trusted organisations as ELOM Training Partners who will take on the role of training of ELOM assessors.
We are piloting this new model of training delivery in 2024, and we are looking for ELOM Training Partners who are already familiar with the tools and who have the professional skills and organisational capacity to manage the logistics of the training. This requires booking venues and catering, ordering training equipment, arranging access to children for test assessments, and managing communication with the organisation booking the training. DataDrive2030 will remain responsible for the final accreditation of the assessors.
ELOM training costs anywhere between R1,500 – R5,500 per trainee depending on the tool. Becoming an ELOM Training Partner provides organisations with an alternative revenue stream and also will allow partners to train eligible staff members at significantly reduced fee.
